There is a scene in The Substance that I think is a brilliant depiction of body dysmorphia. Elizabeth (Demi Moore) is getting ready for her date, and she looks fantastic. On her way out, she sees the billboard of Sue, so she goes back and redoes her makeup, even though we are thinking the same thing, "You look gorgeous!" Then she goes back again and again, and ends up missing the date. I have never seen a better representation of what it feels like to see yourself differently than everyone else.
