My nearly-11yo AuDHD son has "watch more news" as one of his New Year's resolutions, any suggestions for age appropriate, preferably liberal-leaning sources that a bright neurospicy kid might like?

I love podcasts by these young or young-ish guys, available free on YouTube, mostly political though: Brian Tyler Cohen, Luke Beasley, Harry Sisson. Don’t have anything to suggest for general news, other than MSNBC

CNN 10 online. It’s a ten minute news break down every weekday, made for kids. They take off holidays and summers, but it’s a nice dose of news for kids

Subscription to The Week (for youths)? Been thinking about getting it for my daughter.

AP is solid and reasonably unbiased; it might be a little dense for kids, though. NPR can definitely lean into talking head territory, but they do have a lot of kid friendly stuff. Given that the most trusted news source in the US is the Weather Channel, you might throw that out there for him lol

No such thing as liberal leaning. There is news and there is right wing propaganda

The Guardian is well written and leans liberal. The Economist is also good, but political perspectives may vary there.

In Australia we've had "Behind The News" since the late 1960s which is designed for kids aged 10+ I'm not sure if it's available internationally or not though - https://www.abc.net.au/btn We also have an online-only news outlet called "6News Australia" which was started by an 11 year old in 2019 and is completely run by young people. It's not a news "for" kids specifically but it may still be of interest to your young fella... https://www.6newsau.com/
