Slavery in the ancient world was VERY different from what was practiced in the Caribbean and the Americas. Because the ancient world didn’t have capitalism to make it even worse. Yes. Slavery is bad regardless. But some slavery is even worse than other slavery. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the worst, American chattel slavery was a 9 only because Caribbean sugar plantations were even worse.
