For people looking to do self-funded book tours, I highly suggest PNW. In a 3-day weekend, I went to Portland, Olympia, Tacoma, Seattle, Poulsbo, & Bainbridge, signing at 15 bookstores in 2 states. The stores were fabulously welcoming and excited to have me, and some had small budgets to bring me back in the future. Adding it up, I think I could fully fund the next run. Alaska always has flight deals, hotels were reasonable, and lots of public transit (although we opted to rent a car).
