NYC in the 90s—was far more dangerous than today. I remember as a sophomore in HS cutting class one day and heading into Central Park with a buddy of mine. This was around 1990/91. Back then, a stark contrast from today, CP was a deserted ghost town in the middle of the day. Few people ventured through it just for fun, and definitely no tourists did. There were also very few police around. I know because we were chased by a gang of older guys for over 10 mins before we finally found a cop. 😅

They glamorize 90s NYC. I was about 8, 9 or maybe 10 when I was robbed (1989 or 1990), my brother was maybe 16 when he was robbed on the train, pickpocketing was a thing. Schools were bad, google King HS 1980s, the gangs - Decepticons and 84th Street Gang. Nonetheless, we still had a BLAST 😩😂
