I am a Black person, and I recognize that I am privileged compared to the hardships and struggles that Africans and Black people have historically faced. I deeply appreciate the sacrifices and efforts they made to pave the way for opportunities that I and others enjoy today. I don’t have to walk outside fearing maltreatment, lynching, or sexual violence, and that in itself is a privilege. There’s nothing wrong with asking questions about this.
