I agree but I don’t think they didn’t hold because it wasn’t their style. For one, they established administrative structures like taxation schemes and an innovative mail delivery system to govern their vast territories. I think it didn’t last simply because they were held together by charismatic leaders who left the empire in tatters through the mere act of dying without a clear succession plan.
