No they absolutely didn't, because the USSR wasn't socialism, it was fascism, and would have been no different than the nazis. Also the USSR absolutely did try to be an axis power, they had spheres of influence laid out.

I never said the USSR wanted to join the Axis. Stalin made a deal with Hitler, then acted like a 'liberator' after the war. The USSR dominated Eastern Europe after 1945, creating puppet states. Back in the 1920s, they also tried to take over Europe, but Poland stopped them in 1920. And no, the USSR wasn’t fascism—it was totalitarian communism. You're twisting yourself into knots defending communism when no one even mentioned it.
