50/50 on this for me. On one had yes, cash grab. On the other, she always makes sure to post any difference for free on her website so anyone can read the differences. Exclusives are meant for collectors. No different from anyone else doing them.

Isn’t the solution just not to buy these special editions? Just buy one of them. The game only works because people buy multiple copies. Most books don’t play this game. I just don’t plan to feed it. I ordered 1, and I’m good with that.

People act like B&N exclusives of books haven't existed for decades 🙄 That being said, I really think the idea here was to alleviate some pressure on the deluxe editions on release day. I'm not sure how successful it will be as I've seen many people say that they intend to by both and others say they've canceled pre-orders of one for the other.

Agreed! I feel the same way about SJM’s bonus chapters. Gives me the ick and just screams greed 🤷🏻‍♀️
