It’s not an ego thing. Or if it is, it’s insecurity not pride. Performative acts make me feel like the underlying emotion is absent. Like we’re just actors playing a role. This is all personal though. I’ve been in 3 relationships in my life and all three women were the “I can open my own door thank you very much” type.
