In November, I was offered my dream job at my dream salary and quickly signed the offer. I put in my notice for my current job, and I was so excited to start my new career on Jan. 13th On Dec 17th, I got an email 'revoking' my offer... the one I had already signed. I had less than a week of work at my current position left, and it wasn't possible for me to stay on. I'm officially unemployed. Not sure what to do from here, will start looking for employment for another few months I guess...

Is this even possible? Like, did they even tell you the reason why?

I am so sorry you had to go through that. I pray you find something great soon. This has happened to me before - a contract job through an agency.

I have learned to not quit my job until I literally start the new one. If you can take pto days or some type of leave. It sucks to not put in a 2 weeks notice but hell, they don't give notices if they want to fire you or lay you off.

If you got a soft offer that you signed but not the formal offer it is totally legal. This happened to me recently. I accepted the soft offer but the formal offer was revoked.

Answering major questions: Not only did I have a start date, I had been flown out to meet the team. I had access to email, teams, and more. I was attending ad-hoc meetings. I have the employment agreement that I signed and the CEO signed. Nothing came up on my background check. Everything cleared a month before this happened. Timeline: interviewed through October, Signed agreement on November, starting date was Dec. 9th but pushed back by the company because of the holiday

I had a start date for a job I was hired for so I put in my two weeks. Two days later I was told I wasn’t actually hired. Thankfully my boss was able to cancel my two weeks and the other job ended up ghosting me. When they did contact me they claimed they didn’t hire me. So why give a start date??? Anyway, I recently found out the position is still open. They needed someone in August. I dodged a bullet.
