Counterintuitively, the death penalty is more expensive than life imprisonment (because the increased legal costs outweigh the decreased housing costs.) Given this, I can’t help but think that maybe they should’ve started with abolishing the death penalty instead of cutting childhood cancer research funding. But what do I know? I’m no billionare.
