To the photographers who are on Apple Silicon Macs, if all I’m really doing is Lightroom Classic and Photo mechanic for my workflow, could I get by on just a regular M4 chip? Or do I really need the M4 Pro/Max? I’m eyeing a 15” MacBook Air (I’d be getting more RAM) just because the new MacBook pros are beefy as hell and I’d like to travel lighter when I can.

30 分鐘內	Nathan Clark nathanclark	You could probably get by on a base M1 from 2020. I have a M1 Mac mini and a M2 Pro Mac Studio and an M2 MacBook Air… when it comes to photo there’s basically no difference until massive batch work. And this is on 61mp A7RV photos.
10 小時內	Brian & Jennie jennie.brian.seetheworld	Adobe’s current products like using GPU cores and dedicated Video Memory for its fancy tools. RAM and CPU, while is still important, the GPU thing is the newest thing you have to worry about. It’s better to save some money on a lower CPU and take those savings and put it towards a better video card. Unfortunately with the “System on Chip” with the current Macs, you are paying extra $ either way.
