“The Word of God” ✋🏾 Many people who refer to scriptures as “the word of God” in an effort to gain authority /have the final say in a conversation are being manipulative. Meaning that when someone uses the phrase “the word of God” to describe scripture in a discussion, they are trying to establish their viewpoint as UNQUESTIONABLE or ABSOLUTE. To me, this approach is manipulative bc it uses the idea of “religious authority” to shut down a debate, rather than engaging in thoughtful dialogue.
