In the midst of all this minimum wage/cost of living discourse, I think the underlying narrative that most people are missing is that a large number of people genuinely do NOT care if a stranger were to drop dead right at their feet. It’s impossible to use the argument “everyone deserves a living wage no matter the job” to fight someone who has no regard for strangers’ lives. The complete apathy I’m seeing in a lot of people on these threads is bone-chilling.
