All this AI nonsense sparked an old memory / day of existential dread:
Maybe 6-8 years ago, back when I worked in a large office, there were sensors that would unlock secure interior doors as you approached to exit, and turn faucets on/off and dispense paper towels in the bathrooms. Normal stuff, right?
Well, one day, NONE of the sensors worked for me. I had to hit the “exit” button on the wall to open doors. I’d hover behind coworkers to use already-running faucets and dispensers…
