Medicare can now negotiate drug prices with manufacturers. Last year I got a prior authorization for a brand name drug. This year the manufacturer of that drug isn't participating with Medicare, didn't "sign on" (as United Healthcare put it), so even though I was approved for coverage/and given a prior authorization number for the drug by Optum RX, it still isn't covered under Medicare Part B. I'm going to be making a lot of phone calls this week trying to figure out what to do.
