I found a new route from Delhi to Chandigarh, and then wrote about it in a newspaper. The usual road is NH 44 (old NH 1) via Panipat, Karnal, Ambala. I took Western Peripheral Expressway, joined Delhi-Katra Expressway, and then Trans-Haryana Expressway. It was 15 km longer (Gurgaon to Chandigarh), but took 2 hours less, and saved 4 litres of petrol. On NH 44, the Toyota Taisor I drove returned 15 km/litre, but on this route fuel efficiency rose to 21 km/litre (mostly cruise control). Expressway
