at a sociology conference, I talked with a friend about the limitations of research methods. "if you can't be graphed, you're invisible." they were so right.
i'm thinking of Robin Kimmerer's "Braiding Sweetgrass" talking about indigenous knowledge and science as complementary but separate ways of knowing. when indigenous knowledge is translated into science, foundational meaning is lost.
science and lived experience feel similarly related. so much cannot be graphed and is lost in translation
