Nothing wrong with being materialistic, it’s okay to pamper yourself with designer stuff, as long as you can afford them. I like to believe that I deserve all the finer things in life.

Most Asian countries were less advanced and “poorer” than the Europeans and Americans for the majority of 20th century. This made a lot of Asians feel inferior, and have low self esteem, therefore they needed to show the world that they are not inferior anymore, they are just as rich as the whites.

That’s the old gen. The new gen we like and support local ❤️

Those people lack self confidence.

I‘ve Seen the Documentary about this, and doe to Some Research, the reason is because only with desiner Product such as bag, clothing or car that you can effordless show off in the public that you Are in the upper class, because no body gonna ask, where you live, and how your home/ Appartement look like.. and this is the chepest way to climb the status..

So my family is Cambodian. My mother grew up during the genocide in the 70s. She buys designer because she can now. She came from literally nothing, whatever she already had was taken away. She's earned the right to be "materialistic". She also minds her own business 😉
