THIS... the reason I struggled so much in college was b/c of the classes I had to take that had NO correlation to my major at all, literally had to take a fitness/nutrition class the one year.. mind you my major was early childhood education!!

I was in school as a pre-medical student, and in the time I was there, I only took ONE Biology course. They had me in Sociology courses, German classes, Fine Arts courses, and the fucking “Art of Horror” cinema class. (which lowkey seemed cool, just irrelevant) Like dude? I came to school to be a doctor?? Not waste literal thousands of dollars on portions of education that would be considered completely useless, had the university not “deemed it otherwise”.

But then you couldn’t write a professional sounding paper of any kind, type 3 words a minute, and do math with your fingers lol. Reputable companies don’t just want someone who can do the work, they want professionals in every sense of the word.

Ugghhhh. I just wanted to get a higher education, and they’re making me LEARN different perspectives and make connections instead. SO UNFAIR 😥😥

Wrong. Then that would have been a technical course, not a bachelor's degree. A university is neither a polytechnic nor a trade school.

I used to think like this. I let ppl who didnt value education convince me a BA degree was a waste of time. However, there really is no shortcut to success. All the jobs I want require a 4-yr degree plus 10+ certifications. Use your time wisely. If you are that impatient, go to trade school or community college or a low level cert. Its better than just having HS diploma for getting good jobs. The biggest thing that college offers all its young students is the OPPORTUNITY to network.

I believe that in other countries, people go to the equivalent of junior college or community college for some core courses to show that they are able to do college level work. Then, once they figure out what they want to specialize in, they go to university and take only the courses that pertain to their major. Makes a lot of sense to me.
