Based on my last 3 moves (all in the south, known for its "hospitality") the vibe was certainly not welcoming...not a cookie in sight. I’d assumed the custom was long dead and mourned it accordingly.

It will only be a thing of the past if we let it. I firmly believe that we need to fight the solidity and loneliness that comes with being chronically online. People are longing for personal connection and starting off with neighbors is a great way to do it! Yes it’s uncomfortable. You might get a terrible response. But it’s worth it to try.

i dont trust homemade food from people i dont know. they could have had unsanitary baking/cooking conditions, they could have accidentally used something expired, or theres the rare chance that something was added with malicious intent. i would appreciate the gesture, and i wish i didnt have to, but they’d unfortunately be going in the trash :( sealed products or gift cards would be eaten/used though!
