I had this exact situation play out before personally. She didn’t have much opportunity nearby, but found an opportunity with her childhood dream company. It paid decently, and would give her a nice feather to be taken serious in other jobs. She made the decision unilaterally to apply, get hired, and move away in 2 weeks. She felt abandoned that I didn’t drop my life to help move her out at a moment notice, while also expecting me to quit my job in the coming year to have 0 opportunity there.
