Very grateful to the subtitle writers of all our TV streaming shows. My husband and I can still hear okay, but the characters talk so fast…. I’ve noticed that the writing style is different than for literary fiction. Everyone is scoffing all the time, while I rarely read that in a book. I can imagine it as part of a style guide, “if the character moves their face, it’s a scoff, trust us.”
