I just read that dozens of people in the US are injured or killed each year from celebratory gunfire incidents, when people fire their guns into the air for the 4th of July, New Year's Eve, or some other event. A bullet fired into the air doesn't just disappear. Deaths from celebratory gunfire are rare, but they do happen.
