In 2022, Meta hired a PR firm to “smear” TikTok. Their initial response was to highlight and push out every horrible instance that happened through the app. With 170 million users that is a lot. However, it didn’t sway public opinion. Sure people complained about it but they still used it. They then decided that if they can’t change the court of public opinion, they will just make it impossible for it to exist in America.
