Four West Metro firefighters are on the road tonight, headed to Los Angeles to help out on the devastating fires in that area. They left our Station 9 just about 7pm, and will most likely spend the night on the Western Slope. They are expected to report for duty by 10am on Sunday.
They're driving what's known as a Type 6 engine- also called a brush truck. The apparatus has four wheel drive, and is extremely nimble and able to maneuver in steep terrain. 1/2
