Do US voters realise that tariffs will ultimately mean higher prices for them? Obvs not mentioned in the rhetoric. US businesses that rely on imports from the targeted countries to manufacture & supply their goods won’t be able to re-engineer their supply chains overnight. They’ll try to absorb some of the cost & pass on the rest to consumers, exacerbating the cost of living crisis… Net: lower profit margins & higher prices. Then there’s likely impact on inflation, interest rates…. Oh well.
