Both are equally bad, it depends. The risk for the extremist is being ill-prepared and overconfident. The risk for the complacent is being ignorant and lacking critical thinking skills. Both can face the problem of adhering to dogma, yet the extremist at least understands the contents of this dogma and does not simply adhere and act upon social cues, yet the extremist is still not protected from not noticing his aderance to dogma in the first place.
