This is a very misinformed post, as it stands, inmate firefighting is strictly volunteer based and it allows them to a) Give back to society and b)assimilate a bit more, giving them chances outside of prison that they wouldn't have otherwise. I will be the first to say how flawed our justice system is, but from what I've seen (as someone who is currently studying criminal justice,) this is the most humane environment inmates can get.
