Same for my PCOS diagnosis - first saw it online and got diagnosed only after I asked to check for it. Turns out I'm basically a textbook example, but still I was dismissed before. Social media has been extremely helpful to deal with my suspected ADHD, as I couldn't even get diagnosed with it as an adult in my country. Dealing with all of that when you know what's wrong with you is hard enough, I can't even imagine how hard my daily life would be if I didn't know.

I got my EDS diagnosis in 2021 and it was so helpful. My AuADHD diagnosis was started with TikTok and then my therapist validated. I'm going for my pots diagnosis next. It's a shame we have to beg and plead for answers and tests

After 25 years of suffering with a mysterious chronic illness, it was a nurse in the hospital who paused to actually look and listen and said with a gasp, “I know exactly what you have.” Advocated for me to get the right meds and see a specialist at a university hospital who confirmed my diagnosis. I’ll never forget her.

They didn’t even include women in scientific medical research and studies until 2013. There is so so much research and evidence lacking in the industry.

Heavy on the Ehlers Danlos!!!! I had been getting knee dislocations once or twice a year and my small town local doctors couldn’t figure out what they were or why they went back into place so quickly. I hadn’t even heard of it before Instagram reels (and tiktok is the reason for reels lol) and I learned soo much about it from tiktok. It’s insane

Got my dx there too, headed straight to my GP for a referral. Now I'm on meds and things are improving ❤️
