Biei Town, Hokkaido. The famous birch trees were cut down on January 14,and not just because of overtourism. The town of Biei is famous for its scenic beauty, but the town officials have no intention of protecting these trees from tourists. It seems to me that they are only thinking about enriching themselves. If only the town had taken more measures to protect and value the trees. When you think about it like that, you can see that Biei, with its scenic beauty, is also a disappointing town.
