Could someone please recommend to me some bands who were contemporaries of Earth Wind & Fire and Kool & The Gang in the 70's/80's who were just as good as them (if not better, in your opinion!). So many classic songs between those two great bands. I love their funk, disco, soul sounds. Music Threads

20 小時內	Stephen Dailey waldo504	Try Dyke and The Blazers if you want some hard core funk. James Brown considered Dyke to be a serious player in the arena. Dyke was the first to use the term funky in a song title and as such was a prime creator of the genre.( he wrote Funky Broadway . Real name was Arlester Christian). Among his musical collaborators was drummer James Gadson who also recorded with the legendary Charles Wright and the 103 street Rhythm Band.
