When I was 19, I went to my first writing conference and distinctly remember a couple older male authors pushing alcohol on me under the guise of “that’s how we do it around here!” I was too star struck to say no. I’m so, so lucky nothing happened, but the culture that allows Gaiman and other predators in the writing community to hide their misdeeds behind their stardom needs to be reckoned with.
