My son turns 18 today. We met him when he was 8 years old & the first time we visited him, he made us lunch. When he put the mustard on my husband's sandwich, he drew a smiley face & said, "Look, Dad, it's a happy face sandwich." Older child adoption carries a lot of trauma and difficulties, & we've had our share of both. If I could go back there are many things I would do differently but the one thing I would always do exactly the same is bring him home. Always. Always. Always.
