The misinformation is truly a disappointment. Gullah Geechee people and traditions did not originate in Barbados, & as a SC native I’ve never heard anyone call SC big Barbados. Gullah Geechee people have deep roots in West Africa, where our ancestors were brought to South Carolina as part of the slave trade, primarily for their expertise in rice cultivation. They were brought to the isolated Sea Islands, allowing them to preserve and merge their African cultural traditions.
