My mom is in China at the moment. She's about as pro-China as any American you'll ever meet. She was raised by a father who lived in China in the 30's, has been studying Chinese art for much of her life, and has been visiting China for decades, with relatives and many friends there. She has a keen sense of the country's good and bad aspects. She loves China and especially its people. She would find the picture of China that people are getting on Xiaohongshu to be unrecognizable.
