As a former NYer who’s lived in Houston for 15 years I can promise y’all that no one is “overreacting” here. There’s absolutely zero infrastructure for this type of weather. We ain’t got plows or salt trucks and our electrical grid isn’t winterized. Homes are not built with the correct insulation so pipes burst when it gets below freezing. Our roads are made of concrete so everything turns into an ice rink. So no, Houstonians are not overreacting. The city just ain’t built for this shit.
