I'm a medical doctor 👋 this is one example of how ordering TOO MANY test actually saved a patient. Pt shows up w/ intractable vomiting. No SOB. No CP. No recent surgery or immobility. Forgot home oxygen and was 89% on RA. HR 87. BP 145/89. On Amlodipine at home. They put on 2L oxygen normally on 4L at home. Triage nurse ordered a bunch of test including troponin while pt waited to be seen by the PA. It came back high. All other labs completely normal. medical threads
