BTW, I’m seeing people argue about the socialist part (and some confusing it with communism which aren’t the same). The economics of Star Trek are vague on purpose. Socialism was too often conflated with communism and given the Red Scare, Gene couldn’t be too overt in describing his world this way. Socialism takes many forms and is implemented on a spectrum. It’s essentially an in-between capitalism and communism. Which is what’s argued in the article screenshot from the official site. 🧵
