That so many evangelical men are responding to Mariann Budde by mocking her appearance, calling her a heretical witch, is not at all surprising. It doesn’t matter that she was gracious and calm in her plea. It doesn’t matter that she asked the most power to remember mercy and compassion. All that matters to these men is that she’s a woman behind a pulpit. That’s enough for them to hate her.
