I’m Jewish, so I don’t spend a lot of time in churches listening to Bishops. But I’m struggling to figure out what was so offensive?

There are two theads of people who claim to be Christians in the US. One claims that redemption is through faith alone, and works are immaterial to the Christian life. MAGA and Trump align with this thread. The other thread of Christian, while acknowledging redemption through faith, also claim that good works are the clearest sign of faith, and without such work, there is no faith - faith is dead. This thread points to the instructions of Jesus as to the works expected for those of faith.

Same here. I am Japanese and have been watching this whole thing from Japan. I don’t go to churches and don’t have a lot of knowledge of Christianity. But I am struggling to figure out what was so offensive about the Bishop’s words.

It wasn't offensive. It was the truth. Best place she could have talked to Trump (from the pulpit) he had nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. He would have NEVER taken a call from her. Good for you Bishop!
