Crafting is political. I craft to resist consumerism and creating excess waste. I craft to connect with family traditions and skills once forgotten. I craft to weave little bits and pieces of my life as a Black woman living through this unique moment in history into every piece I create. I make things to find empowerment and feel self-sufficient. So no, I’m not just doing arts and crafts.
