When I first moved to the U.S. 🇺🇸 from the 🇵🇭Philippines, I carried the habit of addressing people as "Ms." or "Mr." (Name). My director noticed it and told me, "You don’t need to do that here." I realized that calling people that way unintentionally made them seem superior to me, even though that wasn’t the case. It gave them a false sense of hierarchy. So, I stopped doing it, and once I did, I felt more equal to them. Did any of you bring similar habits when you moved here?
