I’m still leaning towards Naolin and Brennan having been a couple. When Vi asks Brennan in IF about a wife and kids Brennan responds no partner no kids. Like goes out of his way to not say wife. And Naolin in theory gave his life to save Brennan. Stands to reason there was more there. Just a thought.
