Which is why we created Your Book Box. As educators, we know the truth of what’s happening in school systems- if Black history is covered it is a sanitized or watered down version. Our students are reading the same old one book with a Black character written 30 years ago. Our mission is about putting books by Black authors into the hands of Black teens and young adults because we cannot trust this to the school system.
