At first glance it might appear that I lack empathy, and the truth is, I have so much empathy that I don't want to make you feel bad by saying cliché, reactionary responses to you when you share very personal, especially sad, news. That just makes me look like a weirdo though, and you judge me harshly, not knowing it was probably the sweetest thing anyone's done for you in a while.
