Can someone please explain to me why an author who writes a fantasy is lauded for his writing when it includes 🍇 and ǐncëst as part of the plot, but a writer who writes a fantasy that also explores consensual and mutual intimacy in relationships is written off as writing Dragon Smut? Now why would that be I wonder?

Leaving aside the marketing aspect of shoving spice at the forefront of every romantasy even when it's not that prevalent, the discourse is that this genre of books simply does NOT worldbuild and character build as thoroughly as the books they're being compared to. As an ex, Violet has the depth of a spoon when compared to someone like Cersei or Shallan (Way of Kings, more modern work)
