I spent my childhood hearing stories of my mom growing up on a farm in Northern New York, on the Tug Hill Plateau, where lake effect snow (measured in feet, not inches) kept them homebound part of every winter. Despite growing up thousands of miles away from New York, I ended up marrying a man who owned a farm about 3 miles from where my mom grew up. Now I'm raising my kids & we're snowed in, climbing over drifts to get to the barn & feed the animals. The irony of life fascinates me sometimes
