It was pizza night at my house. The neighbor kids came over without me saying anything, completely trusting that I had pizza for them too. (Bought an extra cheese, cuz it's their favorite. Just in case.) My house is a house where kids take it for granted that they will be safe and fed, no questions asked, no invitation needed. I....I did it. I created a place I've always dreamed of creating. It's a really small thing but it makes me very happy.

One evening as it was getting dark, I told her that it’s time to come in. The kids made fun of her, “Haha, you have to go in!” She turned to them, with her hand on her hip, “At least my mama cares where I am.” I was soooo proud! 👍❤️😊
